Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about LedgerLite.

What is LedgerLite, and how does it work?

LedgerLite is bookkeeping software built specifically for freelancers and solopreneurs. Connect your bank accounts and credit cards, and LedgerLite automatically categorizes your transactions, reconciles invoices, and generates tax-ready reports. You get a clear picture of your finances without the manual spreadsheet work.

Who is LedgerLite for?

LedgerLite is designed for freelancers, independent contractors, and solopreneurs who want to keep their finances organized without hiring a full-time bookkeeper. Small business owners with simple operations will find it equally practical.

Is my financial data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard AES-256 and TLS 1.3 protocols. We never store your bank login credentials — we use read-only API tokens provided by Plaid and Stripe. Our infrastructure is hosted on SOC 2-compliant cloud providers with regular third-party security audits.

Is there a free trial?

Every plan comes with a 14-day free trial of Pro features, no credit card required. During the trial you get full access to bank sync, invoice reconciliation, and tax-ready reports. At the end of the trial you can choose to continue on the free Starter plan or pick a paid tier.

Can I cancel at any time?

Absolutely. You can cancel your paid subscription from your account settings with one click. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period, and your data is yours to export at any time. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts.

How does bank sync work? Is it safe?

Bank sync uses Plaid, a trusted financial data platform used by apps like Venmo and Robinhood. You authorize read-only access to your transactions — LedgerLite cannot move money or make changes to your accounts. Your bank credentials are never stored on our servers.

Does LedgerLite handle taxes?

LedgerLite prepares you for tax season by generating profit-and-loss statements, expense summaries, deductible transaction reports, and estimated quarterly tax calculations. The reports are formatted for direct submission to your accountant or for import into tax filing software. LedgerLite is a bookkeeping tool, not a tax filing service, so we recommend reviewing reports with a qualified tax professional.

What integrations do you support?

LedgerLite integrates with major banks and credit card providers via Plaid, payment processors like Stripe and PayPal, and invoicing tools like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. We also support CSV import and export for most accounting software. API access is available on the Business plan for custom integrations.
